A quick, easy, and delicious stir-fry featuring tender beef, crisp broccoli, and a flavorful sauce, perfect for a busy Thursday night.

- 1 lb Beef Sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 1 head of broccoli, cut into florets
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 yellow onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar (optional)
- Vegetable or canola oil for cooking
- Cooked rice, for serving
- Optional Garnish: sesame seeds, red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Prep Your Ingredients: Slice beef, chop veggies, and mince garlic and ginger.
- Marinate the Beef: Combine sliced beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 teaspoon cornstarch. Marinate.
- Heat the Wok or Pan: Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Stir-Fry the Beef: Stir-fry beef until browned (2-3 minutes). Set aside.
- Stir-Fry the Veggies: Add more oil to the pan, add onions, then garlic and ginger. Cook for about a minute or two. Then add broccoli and bell peppers, stir-fry until tender-crisp (3-5 minutes). Add a splash of water to steam if needed.
- Make the Sauce: Whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sesame oil, and brown sugar (if using) in a small bowl.
- Combine and Serve: Add the cooked beef back to the pan, pour in sauce, cook for 1-2 minutes. Serve over cooked rice, garnish if desired.
Notes
- High heat is key for good stir-frying.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan, cook in batches if necessary.
